In 2020, the standard of hypertension was adjusted. Before, hypertension was divided into 3 grades, and now hypertension is divided into 2 grades. That is, the previous grade 2 and grade 3 hypertension were all called grade 2 hypertension.

If, after accurate measurement, it is true that the blood pressure is ≥140/90 and < 160/100, then it is called primary hypertension.
Whether to take medicine or not for primary hypertension can be divided into the following four situations:
A, can not take medicine of primary hypertension.

For the newly discovered level 1 hypertension, and without any cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, or diabetes, and without any discomfort. Patients are not advised to take medicine in a hurry. Just control your blood pressure through a healthy lifestyle.
Controlling blood pressure does not mean that you must take antihypertensive drugs. There are many ways to reduce blood pressure: low-salt diet, persistent exercise, weight loss and weight control, avoiding staying up late, abstaining from alcohol, reducing stress, and so on.
If the blood pressure of these grade 1 hypertension falls below 140/90 in about 3 months through healthy living, then it means that you can continue to live a healthy life without taking medicine, but you must live a healthy life for a long time and monitor your blood pressure for a long time.
Second, you can get rid of the first-degree hypertension of drugs.

There are still some people, such as those with grade 1 hypertension, whose blood pressure fails to return to normal after the above-mentioned healthy life, so they need to take antihypertensive drugs to control their blood pressure. But you don’t have to take medicine for life. If these people continue to adhere to a healthy lifestyle in the later period, their blood pressure will gradually become ideal and lower, and their blood pressure will reach the standard without taking medicine, so naturally they don’t need to take medicine for a long time. But the premise is to continue to strengthen healthy living and be strict with yourself.
Third, hypertension that requires long-term or even lifelong medication.

There are a large number of people with Grade 1 hypertension who need to take medicine for a long time, that is, those who cannot be reduced to normal through healthy living, and finally can only control their blood pressure through antihypertensive drugs. Because our goal is clear, that is, blood pressure reaches the standard. Only when blood pressure reaches the standard can we minimize diseases such as heart, brain and kidney.
There are still some people who have been complicated with heart failure, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, renal failure and diabetes when they find high blood pressure, so as long as the blood pressure is not low, they have to take antihypertensive drugs for a long time, because antihypertensive drugs can not only lower blood pressure, but also protect blood vessels, protect the heart and protect the kidneys. Therefore, when hypertension is complicated or hypertension develops into heart, brain and kidney diseases, they basically have to take antihypertensive drugs for life.
Four, there will be complications of primary hypertension.

There are still some people who have no complications when they find Grade 1 hypertension, that is, simple Grade 1 hypertension, but they have not paid attention to it. Instead of actively lowering blood pressure, they have even intensified their unhealthy lifestyles, such as continuing to smoke and drink, not controlling their diet, not exercising, being obese, staying up late and so on. Then even if it is grade 1 hypertension, it will eventually lead to malignant results such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, myocardial infarction, renal failure, heart failure and so on.
Therefore, grade 1 hypertension is not terrible, but the key is attitude.
We attach importance to grade 1 hypertension, and may even not need to take medicine for a long time; We don’t pay attention to grade 1 hypertension, and it may even develop into various diseases of heart, brain and kidney.
