Chery is one of them. After realizing the importance of positive research and development, Chery has invested in the team of independent engine development very early.
Remember Chery Qiyun? Yes, with the help of the Tritec1.6L engine jointly developed by Chrysler and Rover, Chery Qiyun at that time had a "strong horsepower" of 116Ps. I have been impressed by this engine so far. It is not only more powerful than the engines of Volkswagen Bora, Hyundai Elantra and Citroen Elysee with the same displacement at the same time, but also the Tritec engine has been assembled on MINI models. Chery ACTECO series engine can be regarded as the first engine series developed in China, and its appearance represents that China brand has the real automobile engine technology from now on. The whole engine product line is planned from 0.8L to 4.2L, and all of them support Euro 4 emission standards. In a sense, the earliest ACTECO engine has reached the level comparable to the international engine at that time.
The first generation of Chery ACTECO engine can be regarded as the representative of the engine series independently developed by China. A good start requires a good continuation. When Chery discovered that the turbocharging technology was becoming more and more mature, from 2009, Chery’s second-generation ACTECO engine series was officially put into the market, and its highlight technology was to keep up with the trend of the times: dual VVT variable timing adjustment of intake and exhaust and the blessing of turbocharging, which made the second-generation ACTECO engine make comprehensive progress in power, economy and emission.
