Maybach successor to enter China next year, equipped with 6.0 engine

On May 15 this year, Mercedes-Benz made the world debut of the new S-Class in Germany, and based on the new car will also launch a coupe, convertible and other derivative models, which will also include an ultra-long axle version (the new Pullman). Dr. Zetsche, Chairperson and CEO of Daimler AG, said of the flagship product that will replace Maybach: We have been committed to the development of the ultra-luxury car market and to further enhance our leadership in this field, and the launch of the new Pullman is a key step in this plan. Recently, Mercedes-Benz China insiders told the network news agency: The new Pullman is expected to be introduced to China next year.

Highlights of the new generation of S-class super long axis version

The wheelbase of the new car may reach 3515mm or the hybrid version

The new generation of S-Class will launch a standard wheelbase version, a long wheelbase version (with a wheelbase of 3165mm) and an ultra-long wheelbase version. Among them, the ultra-long-axis version of Pullman is expected to have a wheelbase of 3465mm to 3515mm. Compared with Ghost’s wheelbase of 3465mm and the speeding wheelbase of 3065mm, its wheelbase will also account for a certain advantage. In addition, in terms of engine, the car is expected to be equipped with a 6.0L V12 twin-turbo gasoline engine, and a hybrid version will also be expected to be launched later.

The new car will be equipped with a 6.0L V12 engine, which is more powerful than Ghost’s 6.6L engine

The new Pullman will be powered by a 6.0L V12 engine with a maximum output of 447kw, while rival Rolls-Royce’s Ghost models and Bentley’s new Flying Scoot will be powered by 6.6L and 6.0L engines, respectively.

The appearance of the new car is consistent with the new S-class standard axle version

The overall design style of the new Pullman is basically the same as that of the new S-class standard axle version, but the C-pillar and rear door of the model can be seen to be wider than the standard axle version, and the length of the vehicle will be close to 6 meters.

The new generation of Pullman is equipped with three rows of seats, each row can seat two people. The rear two rows of seats are designed to face each other, which is more in line with the status of its executive class car. At the rear of the car, the new Pullman abandons the current double-row exhaust pipe design and adopts a sharper rectangular exhaust pipe, which is replaced by a bilateral single-row design.

Since the Maybach brand gradually disappeared, Daimler Group has no corresponding product in the ultra-luxury market to compete with Bentley and Rolls-Royce. We will wait to see whether the launch of the new Pullman will once again turn the ultra-luxury car industry into a three-pronged situation.
